Radiator hoses-2000 Nissan Sentra
After shutting my car off the other night, the temp. gauge went all the way up and the "check engine" light came on. When I opened the hood, the two radiator hoses were collapsed. I let it cool down overnight and checked it again in the a.m. The radiator had antifreeze in it, the recovery tank had antifreeze in it, and no hoses or belts were broken. Could it be a block somewhere (thermostat, radiator). Could it be something else? When I started it up, the top hose got warm but the bottom hose was cold. What way does the coolant travel into the engine---from the top hose into the engine or from the bottom hose? Any help would be appreciated

Replace the T stat AND the Radiator cap, the cap is the cause of your hoses collaps, since you said the gauge went all the way up and check engine light is on, I'd change out the T stat to play safe. Does the check engine light stills on?.
