shift problem 1996 dodge caravan
We have a 96 Dodge Caravan SE that will not shift out of second gear. This van had no problems until it sat for 6 months. Then a customer took it for a drive and it would drop out of thid gear back into first. I changed the fluid and filter and now it takes off in second and stays in second gear. This is an automatic with overdrive and the build date on the van is 6/15/1995.

Welcome to the Forums!
Sounds like you may have a shift linkage problem, valve body issue, or the tranny itself.
Most, if not all of these requires the dropping of the transmission to see.
How did the magnets look when you changed the filter?

It is in "limp mode" a self preservation feature of the A604/41TE tranny, things to look for that are easy are the input and output sensors on the tranny and the solinoid pack, cang get all of these for about 100 bux on Ebay. Also, allpar.com is a good place to look.
