Where in CA is best place to buy a starter?

Where in CA is best place to buy a starter? Oh yeah I should probably post this by itself but anyone can go to Autozone and have there starter checked for free

any good parts house

You can get a good starter lots of places. I dont really like the Zone as I think they get there stuff from Mexico were they just replace brushes and slap on some black paint and call it good.
NAPA auto parts is my choice.

I would look for a local rebuilder /repair shop .

wont be the cheapest but will be the best

yep

Mango man is right find a good starter rebuild shop a mom and pop place and they do a good job. Had one done many years back and it cost about the same as a a store bought one. But unlike a store bought one you know it was done right with pride.

I have also heard about over the counter starters being rebuilt on the cheap.

At my local re-builder they turn the armature contacts, replace the bushing, brushes and anything else that has a problem. The starter is like new when they are done.

The only way to go other than new.
