If the window goes in either direction, the motor is good...........It's the switch that changes the polarity of the current flow to the motor and thus changes its direction

so your saying there 2 wires going to the motor you say that when going up (one wire is + and the other is neg) then when you go Down (the wire switch polarity)????

Are you 100% sure its not one wire is for up + and the other is for down + and the motor is grounding itself out on the door???

This is why i need a diagram also would like to know how to test the switch like where the power comeing in and going out???

gees thats the second time i was pointed to the autozone page...yah think id learn by now?
ok cool thanks guys!

wench- get this one then
1-the window will always go down k, but wont go up installed in the car.
2-theres power getting to the plug where the motor connects to in both directions
3-when i bench test the motor with a batt it works in both ways
4-when i hook up the batt and put the voltage thru the switch connectors it works the motor in both ways installed in the car??
5-i put on a used switch and it does the same no up installed in the car useing the cars voltage.

all i can think of its the motor sticking and the only thing that gets it working is direct current from a batt....so i think i gatta find a new motor??? Even tho i tryed 2 different switches and the power has been tested at the motor plug and its getting there.

A little construction here...........Hook up a test light using aligator clips so that it takes the place of the motor..........Push the switch up...........push the switch down..........If the switch is working, the light should work in EITHER direction as the bulb really doesn't care which way the current is flowing...............testing the plug for power proves that PART of the switch is working.........You also need to check for GROUND ..........

3-"when i bench test the motor with a batt it works in both ways"
Pretty good indication the motor is good

"all i can think of its the motor sticking and the only thing that gets it working is direct current from a batt....so i think i gatta find a new motor???"

"the only thing that gets it working is direct current from a batt"

In any electrical device you need a circuit...That's where the switch comes in
