drivetrain service

need tips on removing U-joint from driveshaft on '00 S-10 without a press.

I don't have a press and have always used a vise to push the bearings out and in.

If you're real careful you can use sockets and a hammer, but you have to watch real close when you asssemble the new one not to knock the bearing rollers loose from the end caps. I actually had to replace a u-joint on my wrecker a while back under an interstate overpass with available tools on the truck. Press or vice is best, of course.

I usually use sockets and a large C-clamp, have used a hammer a time or 2

yea thats what i've been trying.moved the caps a little bit.thanks for the replies folks!guess i'll keep plugging away
