Oil pressure gauge is low when I stop

I just bought a 92 Astro van and the oil pressure gauge is usually very high when I drive, but when I come to a stop it goes close to zero. Then once I start to accelerate it goes back up high again and stays fairly high until I come to another stop. Any thoughts?

thanks,

That's normal indication on most vehicles. If you don't have a oil pressure light, I would say you are fine. If the light comes on, it is the oil pump in the pan.

You may need to replace the oil pressure sender located at the back of the intake manifold, this will require you to remove the engine cover but is an easy fix.
I had the same problem but installed an aftermarket oil gauge instead.
20psi idle 40-60psi freeway and the gauge showed in the read at idle.
