Oil pressure gauge is low when I stop

I just bought a 92 Astro van and the oil pressure gauge is usually very high when I drive, but when I come to a stop it goes close to zero. Then once I start to accelerate it goes back up high again and stays fairly high until I come to another stop. Any thoughts?

That's normal indication on most vehicles. If you don't have a oil pressure light, I would say you are fine. If the light comes on, it is the oil pump in the pan.

I had the same problem but installed an aftermarket oil gauge instead.
20psi idle 40-60psi freeway and the gauge showed in the read at idle.

Wiper Motor Help for a Grand Am

2 weeks ago I had to replace a water pump in my 1997 Grand Am, well I managed to leave a socket under the hood that happened to get jammed under my wiper motor. My windshield wipers stopped working. I checked the wiper trani, I replaced the wiper motor with a brand new that I had tested first, I checked the fuses, those are OK and I replaced the multifunction switch. I am a GM mechanic and I have never run into this before. I have also had other mechanics (friends of mine) look at it and see what they think and none of us can figure out what the problem is. Like I said I have tested ALL new parts in another 97 Grand Am that I have and everything works fine in that car. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the problem? I live in NE, where we get snow (and supposed to be getting it tomorrow) and I need to fix these things. ANY input would be appreciated! Thanks!Read More

'94 Toyota pickup: door lock change

Hello, this is my first post here. I have a 1994 Toyota pickup. I recently lost all my keys. Was able to retrieve the ignition key from the dealer, with the VIN number. Unfortunately, the person who had my truck before did work on it, and as a result, I had different keys for ignition, driver door, passenger door, gas tank, and cap. I've been able to use a screwdriver to pop gas tank open, so it's been alright the last couple of days. However, will be driving to the city soon so need to get the locks fixed. I called the locksmith, seems it will be a lot more expensive if he has to remove lock. I took a shot at it, got door panel mostly off (stay stuck on window crank though!) but didn't want to mess it up. How does one remove door panel and lock, and reinstall? Also, can I remove the lock on the gas tank? Not very useful anyway. Last would be the cap lock. Any ideas? Thanks!! and be careful not to lose your keys in a snowbank! fmRead More
