Removing ABS Wheel Sensor on Jeep

I have a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0 L engine and four wheel drive that I am in the process of removing the rear axle assembly that was bent in an accident. What is holding me up is an ABS wheel speed sensor. This sensor is connected to a hose or cable and is bolted onto the brake back plate. The problem I have is when I remove the bolt, the sensor is larger than the hole in the backplate and I cannot pull it out. I would hate to just cut it off, but I cannot see any other way of removal. Any tricks to this? Thanks.

You may have to remove the rear rotor to get to the other side. There might be a lock nut on the other side.

These speed sensors are designed to not be reused......they must be replaced every time they are removed. Toni.
