1998 Jeep GC Tailgate Questions
1.) I need to fix hatch release. Pulling up on handle doesn't move hook in door. I tried WD40 already. Is it possible to get back panel off (and on ) easily and fix it myself? I tried once but had trouble with buttons on plastic panel. I'm assuming some sort of cable adjustment?
2.)Struts need to be replaced. I looked at these once and couldn't figure out how to replace these. How do you get them off and new ones on?

Can only help you on number one.......... 'buttons' are covers just to make panel look nicer. Can pry up with small screwdriver. Loosen bottom edge of panel first and then top edge. Be ready when it is loose because panel comes off as one piece and when hanging loose will crack easy.
Door has to be open for this........ if just lifting the handle on yours doesn't do it, try pushing the door in as you are pulling up on the handle.
