1989 Firebird Starting Issue

1989 Firebird Formula, 5.0Liter, manual, throttle body with 228K miles. Car will start up first time key is placed in the ignition but when shut off after 1 minute, I turn the key and nothing, the warming lights all come on including the security light. Tapping on the column works once in a while but waiting about 10 minutes it fires right up. Battery, cables, starter, neutral clutch switch check out. If the resistor in the keys are bad, would this cause this?

Thanks, Jeff

Time maybe for a wiring diagram so you know where you can go, to see if you have power beyond the ignition key at place you can easily probe test, to see if you do, like at the clutch switch (check it while it's not working to make sure, again) them maybe some under hood relay switch or whatever.

Thanks, as it turns out one of the VATS wires was broken off the ingnition lock cylinder and the other was hanging on by a thread. I did purchase a new one but need to have the new keys cut by GM Dealer.
