Door ajar indicator

Have a 1997 Ford 150 Pickup. Today the door ajar indicator light on the dash came on while driving but all three doors are closed. Tried unhooking the battery to reset the computer but no go. The dome and cargo lights stay on so I took the bulbs out, pretty hot after a while.

About an hour into our 1 1/2 hour trip the indicator light went out. I opened the door to get it to come on again and it did and stayed on for about a minute or so and went out again. Did that several times. This truck has an extended cab with a third door but I can't identify any kind of obvious switch etc.

Anyone got the goodies on this one?

Thx

Thanks, I read this further down in the postings after I wrote. I gave all latches a good shot of WD-40 including the bottom latch of the extended cab door. So far so good, light has not come back on. I'll get back in a few weeks or so to follow up.

Thx again.

You will find that you have to spray the WD40 in the latch about every 2 months or so to keep the switch clean and everything working right.
