Red face 1994 Dodge Intrepid- Message Center light

My husband has a 1994 Dodge Intrepid ES, automatic transmission, 6-cyl engine. He was recently rear-ended and the bumper was crunched in, which caused the "Trunk Ajar" indicator light to turn on in the "Message Center" on the dash. Since the trunk is actually functioning, and is closed completely, we would like to disconnect the light on the dash to avoid it running down the battery every night. Does anyone know if this is possible? The Owner's Manual only gave enough info to show that the Message Center is included on the same fuse as many other important internal electrical functions. So, I don't think it's an option to cut that fuse. Any ideas besides going to a dealer?

You could located that latch sensor and just twist the two wires together.
