94 Nissan Maxima
I have a 94 nissan maxima with a keypad on the door. I dotn have the code for it and they are asking me $270 to reset the computer. BS. One dealer told me look under the trunk for a black box with the code on it but i cant find a black box. Anyone know how to reset the code?

That price is reasonable for a dealer.
Dealerships will charge a fee to hook up there computers plus the hourly fee's which can be up to $85/hr.
I've had my Maxima in for warranty work and was very pleased at how Nissan treats their customers.
Some times you have to bite the bullet.
If you are having trouble still, shoot me a private message and I will tell you another place to get some help.

If you car isn’t a SE you should have the keypad on the door, if it does have the keypad and you don’t know the code look inside the trunk where the deck speakers are mounted should be some box's there one is a amp for the stereo and one should say keyless or something like that. You want to write down all the numbers from the center should be like 3-4 sets of numbers (around 4-7 numbers) follow the directions to set a new code so you can use the key pad
Now go back outside the car to the keypad.
Hit the clear button, then punch that number into your keypad, then you'll hear a long, sustained beep. While it's sounding the beep, enter your NEW key code into it. it has to be at least 3 or 4 numbers, forget the total. When you're done punching it in, just stop pushing buttons and let it sit for a few seconds.
When it gets done beeping, hit the clear button again and punch in the code you entered. It should unlock the doors if they're locked. Hit the button with TRK on it and it'll pop the trunk. Hit the WDW or whatever button and it will roll down the front windows.
The directions are the same as for the 89-94 maxima's, I am not sure what all functions the 2nd gen had now as I don’t recall if it had a window option or not but the pad should say on it anyhow.

I have 1994 Nissan Maxima with the keyless entry touch pads on the
doors. I bought the car used and did not get the factory code
information needed to reprogram them. Is there a way to do this
yourself or is the dealer the only answer??

The control box for the keypad entry system is located under
the dash on the passenger side. Little silver box about
4x4x3 inches (if memory serves). There is upon that box a
seven-digit code (there are some other numbers and
letters; ignore them. look for the 7 digits). This is your
master code. The master code does not open the doors; it is
only used to set your code.
Once you have that number, close the doors and enter the 7
digit code at the keypad. A long beep will begin. You have
10 seconds or so to put in your new code. Then wait. The
car will beep twice (again, if memory serves). The new code
is in there.
Be forewarned, however, on selecting your new code: you
cannot program a code that require the keys to be pressed in
sequence (like 1-3-5-7). New codes can be 4-7 digits. The
new code also cannot begin with two presses of the same key
(I think).

Ok first get a flashlight and, if your back is stiff, someone more flexible. Open the front passenger door and slide the seat back. Get on your back and with the flash light, look up under the dash, toward your left (this would be on the door's side of the dash). You should see a brass colored box with a wire harness and wires attached to it. You might see a label that says "Digital Touch Entry Control Unit" or something like that. You should also see two or three lines of code on the label. One of the lines should begin with the letter "S". Record the last 7 NUMBERS on that line, that's the master key number (well it should be).
Now, wiggle out of the car and shut the door. Press the button labeled "C"/"ST", where "C" is on the top and "ST" is on the bottom. Now enter the seven digit master key and you should hear a constant tone sound, during this period, enter a 5 to 7 digit entry key, this cannot match the master key. There also cannot be three digits in a row that use the same button, I.E. 909xxx or something like that. After you've entered the code, wait for the tone to stop, press "LCK"/"9|0" to lock the doors (HAVE A KEY READY JUST IN CASE YOUR CODE DOESN'T WORK STUPID!). Now press "C"/"ST" and enter your new code, the doors should unlock, if the doors do not unlock, press the "WDW"/"5|6" key and see if your front windows roll down. If they don't, the code operation didn't work, give me an email or something. If it did, then your door lock timer is fried and you need a new one. You might want to email me on that one too!
NewHomeOwner, hopefully you are not trying to take over my forum! :-p I didnt even see you post.

Yeah, but you know about the keypad code thing, I just did a google search for it. I am an old school auto-mechanic, I only went to school till 1985 just when the computer and the metric system hit. Yeah, I have 2 sets of tools, that is about the only good thing that came out of that. I actually came on here about a question about my furnace and got such good advice and quick, too that I liked this forum. Then I seen that they have a auto-mechanic forum so I just thought I would add what I can to help anyone. Sometimes if I see 0 responses to a section even if I dont know anything about it I will atleast try to search Google for an answer, better than leaving someone out to dry. I always liked fixing things...I guess that is why I was a mechanic in the first place. Anywho, I will answer just about anything and if I am wrong someone will correct me!
