Most in cabin filters I know are behind the glovebox. Look in your owners manual. If it lists nothing about a cabin filter, there probably isn't one.
If it does, yes, it's good to change it out. I just changed mine for the very first time at 60,000 miles.
It keeps the air coming into your car from the vents nice and clean.

While it won't affect the operation of your car, it will clean pollen etc from the air before it blows through your heat or air conditioning coils. Garages may want $ 40 - $50 for this service. Buy the filter at a parts store and install it yourself. Takes five minutes going slow on my Toyota.

The cabin air filter could be located in a couple differnet places. It is a good idea to replace if you do it yourself. Alot of manufacturers recommend replacement every 7500 miles if you live in a very dusty area. Most are located behind the glove box but some Saturns are located under the wiper cowl. Either way they are not generally to hard to get to. I am not sure where it would be located on a Jetta.

It can be under the window cowl like on my Ford Taurus or in back of the glove box like on my Toyota. You will need 1 the owners manuel or 2 go to dealer parts and ask.Or 3 wait till someone on this fourm knows.
