97 ford explorer hi beam indicator stays on

I just noticed the high beam indicator is on. When I turn on the head lights it goes off and turn on when beams are on as normal. However when I turn off the head lights the indicator is on and does not go off when flash the beams with the control. I aslo noted then even when I turn off the engine, remove the key and get out of the car the indicator stays on.

Sounds like a faulty headlight relay. Try swapping some relays around with the same type. This relay box should be in your engine bay in a black box with a cover.

The lights themselves do not stay on. Only the indicator. I will check the relays. Where are they located?

In a black square box in your engine bay. Usually near the sides. It sohuld be labeled, "Relay, Power Distribution", etc. The underside of the cover should have the light relays location.

Found the relays. Pulled them one at a time and the light stayed on the whole time.
