1999 ford econoline van a/c charge

what kind of freon do i have to use to charge the system, and which steam do i use to hook up the freon too

You do not have "freon" in this vehicle.

You have R-134a.

They sell recharge bottles that come with the hose and gauges.

You hook this hose up to the lower pressure side of the system. Usually this connection has a blue cap. The hose will only fit on this one fitting, so you can't get it mixed up.

Take a gauge reading first. If the system is overcharged, it will cause damage.

If you are not holding a charge, you have to find the leak which can take a long time and usually a mechanic is in order.
