Can't get the wheel off

Hello,

This may sound like a silly question but I'm having a very hard time removing the front wheel from my '99 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. The back wheel stuck too but I just hit the tire in a few spots with a hammer and it broke the seal so it came off easily. The front tire is being more stubborn. Does anyone have any tricks for this?

Thanks,
Lori

Good support under the vehicle, sit on ground next to wheel, raise both feet and kick hard.

Last ditch when nothing else works? Loosen lug nuts about a quarter to half a turn and drive it a short distance - very short, like up and down the driveway.

Sometimes dropping the jack *CAREFULLY* will break the rim loose.

Both of these ideas sound like they will work.

Thank you very much.

Stuck WHEELS

I suggest you check all the wheels for being stuck to the hub. You don't want to have a flat tire some where and not be able to get the wheel off. Loosening the wheel nuts a little and driving the vehicles in some tight turns and harder stops will usually break the wheel loose from the hub.

Talking 1999 Taco

Got the same truck. When you reassembly, use some grease or Permatex neverseize compound on the inside surface of the rim / bolt flange. It'll keep it from corroding to the rotor again.

Great truck! How many miles?

Stuck wheel

Another thing that worked for me was put a blunt punch in an air chisel and run it around the center of the rim where it is supportd by the hub/rotor. RW

Cool stuck wheel

Some can be really stubborn. Sometimes I had to loosen all the lugnuts and hit the wheel from the inside with a sledge hammer.
