2003 VW jetta engine temp sensor

Can anyone tell me the location of the temp sensor on a 2003 VW jetta with 1.8 liter turbo enigine. I retrieved 2 codes from the OBDII unit, one for high reading and the other for high sensor resistance. But the guage reads fine so it must be an intermittent fault which would lead me to believe it was a wire rather than a bad sensor. But I can't even see a sensor and when I tried to by a book Checker only has them for autos over 4 years old.

Thanks for the help.

Ron

Now I remember why I like to work on my 50 Chrylser, you can see the parts.

There's probably 2 sensors; one for the guage and one for the computer. The sensor for the guage would probably not set a code, but the ecm sensor would if it was faulty. In general terms, the guage sensor is often screwed into the side of the block and the sensor for the ECM is often in the intake manifold. Could be way different on a VW, those German engineers have a strange sense of humor.
