95' Subaru coolant temp sensor

Where is the coolant temperature sensor located in a 1995 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 liter engine? I need to check it and probably replace it, but cannot find it. The Haynes repair manual is not much of a help, because the pictures are little confusing.

I don't know for sure, but I would be looking around the general area of the thermostat housing (where the upper radiator hose attaches to top of engine) or screwed into the block.

Hopefully another Subaru owner will enlighten us.

I find Haynes manuals and Chiltons manuals to be very vague. I will not purchase one of these manuals anymore.

They are to broad, one manual covers like 7 model yrs sometimes.

If I need a techincal manuals, I go too alldatadiy.com

It is located on the passenger side under the intake manifold.
