If it has the compressor sitting on top of the mtr, they have problems with the internal seals and you can see it leaking all over the compressor.
If your compressor is all wet and oily looking that is the prob.
I replaced aprx.25 last year 95-01 1500 chevys, 10 on the 02-04 yukons gmc chevy 1500's.

If you end up replacing the compressor dont go rebuilt, always new. The new ones have been upgraded and you can see the difference otherwise you will be doing this again in 1-2 years. Trust someone elses mistakes!!

And it could be freezing up due to poor air flow........replaced the cabin filters lately. But likely low on freon, as suggested above.

I have a similar issue the compressor is going on and off. The smaller line in laymens terms (high pressure I think) is cool but not blowing out. I was going to check the freon level but can't find the low pressure fitting. Any hints? This is a 5.3L 200 Silverado.
