throddle problem

throddle problem

I have a 1997 buick lesabre,the engine revs up when started and in nuetral to 4000rpms will go down a little in gear.I have tried replacing the throddle position control senser and the idle control senser that did not work What else could it be . thanks Pam

That's quite a bit of revving for sensor problems. I think I would look at the throttle itself to make sure it's closing fully. The cable could be hanging up or the throttle could be sticking in the throttle body. Also check the linkage inside the cab and on the engine.

You may have to try a little penetrating oil on the cable/linkage.
