Unhappy 99 ranger sputter

Hi, I have a 1999 ranger, 4 cyl, that I'VE stored in a garage for a year or so. I started every month and drove it a little. I tried starting it yesterday, it starts but when I give it gas it bogs down. Cleaned out mouse nest in air breather, it has a full tank of gas. Could it be the fuel filter or another nest in the muffler? any suggestions are appreciated.

It could be either of those you suggested.

You can disconnect the exhaust somewhere midstream and see if that works.

Do you hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds before you start the vehicle? You should hear the whining of it then it will shut off.

Pull off and inspect your air box as well.

Check all your wires as well. These birds and animals might have been hungry for some copper.

Went and started truck again today, took air filter and hose completly off and it ran great. Put it back on and it bogged down again. Could it be a sensor on the hose?

Did this intake tube you removed ahve the MAF sensor on it? If it did, that would b your problem. Vehicle will usually idle perfectly with it disconnect, but when higher RPMs are reached it will lose power.

Is the air filter in good condition?
