1994 Toyota Corolla O/D Off error

I have 1994 Corolla DX that recently had major work compelte.
I have on dash O/D Off message..Feels like its working 'high' on freeway.
Misplaced my manual. Is there something I can do? What does this mean?
Can anyone help?

check the fuse . and see if the light will go off .

You have hit the O/D switch on the gear selector, haven't you?

I think HotInOKC's got the problem figured out. On my '92 camry the O/D on-off button was on the shift lever (it's a little squarish button facing the driver's side). If you accidentally pushed it the light on the dash would come on, and of course the overdrive would be off, making the car run in high idle.
