94 probe overheating

I have a 1994 ford probe. It has 150k miles on it. It is a 6 cylinder. The car will run hot after approximately 15 minutes. Not spewing water.coolant everywhere, but in the red. (I have never tried to push it when it goes into the red). The fans did not come on yesterday at all. Prior to that they were on and the car was running hot. Does this sound like a thermostat? Or something worse?

Any help would be appreciated.

Warm does not sound like thermostat, but it is a possibility. I would guess something is wrong with the fan circuit, blown fuse, bad relay, etc. The fans should run when it gets warm, and all time when the A/C is on.

At that mileage you could even have a water pump that has lost some of it's pumping ability due to corrosion of the impeller. Head gasket would also be on a list of items to check out if getting the fan(s) running doesn't cure it.

Do the fans turn on when A/C is selected? If they do, this usually rules out the fans themselves and I would start looking at the engine coolant temp sensor.

This is of course, if the wiring is all good.
