dashboard noise
88 Chrysler New Yorker (landau):
I've got the most peculiar noise coming from just behind my dashboard. I can best describe it as being between a buzz and a rattle. This only occurs when the key is in the on position, and isn't so loud that it can't be drowned out by the engine.
If anybody has *any* insight, I'd appreciate it. Thank you

Rattles and assorted noises coming from under a dashboard can drive you right up the wall. Been there. About your only hope is to try to pin it down to as close as possible as to the location and then get a flashlight and start nosing around under there. Sometimes you have to reach up under and just feel around for anything that could be vibrating and causing the noise, being careful not to pull any wires loose. Not a lot of fun.
Late thought: Is it doing it when you simply turn the key to the "on" positio without starting the engine like a seat belt or door buzzer would do?

No, it's continuously on even as I drive, and is coming from somewhere near the top of the dash behind my instrumentation. I don't think the speaker there has worked since I purchased the car, maybe it's getting interference? Otherwise I will have to get under the dash and I'm not excited about that.. :\
Edit: I need a special screwdriver to get behind the dashboard. If I find one, I'll open it up and take a look.
