Question AC Clutch Adjustment

I just had a new AC compressor installed in my 96 Chevy Blazer. The compressor clutch only kicks in when I tap it or hit a bump on the road. Is there a way to adjust the clutch so that it comes on automaticly when I turn the AC on? I've checked the pressure, the freon and jumped the switches and they're good. Do I need another new compressor???

Sounds like whoever put the clutch in, didn't put the required shims in place preventing contact.

You will need a repair manual, and a thinkness gauge to shim it correctly.

What is the air gap on this compressor????.............ALSO check for system voltage at the compressor plug and a good ground............Any resistance will have a negative effect on the electro magnet that hauls in the clutch face

Take it back and have them adjust it, if too much air gap.I believe the gap is .020, about a business card thickness.
