93 Taurus Troubleshooting code
My car is flashing a code 45. I checked the manual and there is no code 45. We just replaced the brake pads and rotors. Is my car making up codes now or is this a code that just isn't in the manuals you get at the auto parts stores?
Thanks!

sure?
you count 4 flashes followed by a short pause followed by 5 flashes?
you are using a jumper wire and getting the key on engine off and then the key on engine running codes and all you get is a 45?
the autozone website lists a 45 for a 3.0l SHO. Is that your car?

3.0l
Yes, that is my car. Where on AutoZone did you find that? The site has changed since I've looked at it, or maybe I just haven't looked in the right place.
We were counting the flashes of the airbag light. 4 flashes, a pause and then 5 flashes. I haven't tried jumping the codes out of it.
It seems to do this when we are low on brake fluid or we replace the pads. It stops after a day or so. I do have a leak in the master cylinder. Need to have that replaced soon.

air bag
it sounds like you have an airbag issue if it is not the check engine light.
airbag codes are not addressed on az website.
take it to a dealer or other pro unless you know you cut some wire or had the steeering wheel off when the problem started.
not really a diy job
good luck

"45 AIR not Diverting (AIRD) - Air Injection"
Okay, what does that mean? I am totally clueless about this car. We changed the air filter not too long ago.
The airbag light will flash codes, not the check engine light. I read that in my manual that came with the car itself. The first time it flashed I thought it was my air bag, but then read that it is what flashes the codes.
I won't take the steering wheel off or the deal with that mess of wires on this car. I've heard that its a real bugger to get back together correctly.
I have to admit that its really made me rethink having an all electric car. Yes, power windows, power door locks, etc are really nice but boy when you have problems with these things its not easy to address.

Quoting another site:
"Secondary AIR injection diverter solenoid diverts secondary air to either the exhaust manifold or the catalyst."
I don't know that this is the correct interpretation of the 45 code.
Can't say I'm familiar with what's being referred to. Where are all the FoMoCo experts when you need one???

new code
It didn't flash this code for me, but for my daughter on her way home from work. It flashed a code 34. In the book this is what it says: EGR Valve Pressure Transducer/Position Sensor sonic voltage above closed limit.
When I looked online it mentioned something about too low to read this sensor (egr).
What on earth is a transducer? Sonic voltage? I worked for Sonic, but that was fast food. Sonic is the speed of sound. How does that relate to voltage?
This blows my mind. I can adjust the valve lash on a 1980 Toyota Corolla, but can't even figure out what the book is talking about on a 93 Ford Taurus.

update
The car is no longer flashing any codes. Its done this before, flash the codes and then after a bit not flash them again. I might not see any codes (usually been the 45, the 34 was a new thing) again for 6 months or so. Strange car.
