My Mother-in-law's a/c stopped working, so we determined that the compressor was the problem. I bought a reman. compressor, a new condensor,a new expansion valve,and the double hose/line which goes from the the compressor to the condensor and from the condensor to the dryer. I made sure to flush the other lines out then took the van to my buddy's repair shop where it held a vaccuum for 30 minutes so he proceeded to charge the system using his Snap-On a/c machine. While doing this I decided to spray some water onto the top of the dryer (don't ask why)and bubbles started to form. He vacated the system and I disconnected the dryer. We replaced the new flat metal crush seals with new ones again and reconnected the dryer. It held a vaccuum again but still was slightly leaking when he pressurized it so I tightened up the nuts and it seemed to stop.We finished up charging it and it still had a slight leak on top of the one side of the dryer. Another mechanic said that this is a common point of leakage (the crush seals) on this style of dodge minivan. Also I thought maybe I was tightening them too much but they wouldn't seal without really tightening them! I ordered another new dryer and another new line assembly (could be cheap Four Seasons import parts) and am going to try again on Sat. Is there another type of seal which can be be used for this application. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the temps are going into the 90's today and tomorrow.

My car is flashing a code 45. I checked the manual and there is no code 45. We just replaced the brake pads and rotors. Is my car making up codes now or is this a code that just isn't in the manuals you get at the auto parts stores? Thanks! Kay
