Engine cutting out........

I have a 1993 Chrylser New Yorker, 6 cyl. I had a post on earlier thinking it had a transmission problem, that's what the wife kept telling me. I was riding in the car yesterday and the problem began acting up, this was the first time I have been in this car when this problem was happening, it sounds like a fuel problem, not the transmission. You'll be driving along at 55 mph and the car will start slowing up, the motor RPM's start dropping. The motor will seem to cut out then run again, rev up, then drop, it's just like it's running out of gas. If you pull over and shut the car off, then turn it back on, sometimes this will correct the problem, sometimes it takes 3-4 times. Any ideas?

 

My first guess would be clogged fuel filter, next would soon to be dying fuel pump.
