The A/C cools when its running but when you are stopped at a light it stops cooling. The compressor never shots down for lack of freon. The fan works. It has the correct amount of freon.
When I bought the car it didn't have A/C. I checked it out and found out the compressor was bad. So I installed a new compressor and dryer & expansion valve. One other thing is the a/c system the car had because it was from 93 was a r-12. So I had to retrofit to r-134. After I got everything installed the only thing I did not do was vacuum out the system.

A COMPLETE vacuum is REQUIRED when converting from R12 - 134a. I recommend doing this. Put a vacuum on the system for at least 30-45 mins, then recharge.
Was a new high pressure switch installed along with a orifice tube? The orifice tube is needed to have better cooling when idle.
