Hello everyone.I am a newbie.
I have a 1997 Ford Van E150 Econoline and A/C blows hot air. I Brought the car to a repair shop to check A/C and they told me that the blend door or blend door Actuator is broken, estimate 3-4 hours labor + part. They already vacuum the freon 134A out.To save $$ I try do it myself. I removed all screws, nuts around the black plastic heater box that covers the heater core and blend door, but I have a difficulty to pull the cover box out because a aluminum tube connected at the bottom of that box.
Would you please to show me how to remove that part in order to get the blend door out. I heard Ford have common problem with the blend door, and blend door actuator broken with all models.
Thank you very much.

How did they determine the actual blend door is bad without removing it all? Most of the time, the actuator is bad. Sometimes you can get to the actuator without tearing the entire dash/airbox out. Some cars the actuator is on the bottom, others on the top.
It will have about 3 bolts securing it in with a wireharness.
