Lexus info please

Tuesday I had my first ride in a Lexus. My friend came in from Dallas and we took a ride in his 93 es300 with 238,000 miles on it and the ride absolutely blew me away. The car was silky smooth and drove like it just came out of the showroom.
Anyway I'd like to look for an older Lexus, under 8000$$$$ or so.
If anyone is familiar with these cars I would appreciate any advice on what to look for when apprasing a used Lexus besides the normal things that one would look for when checking out a used car.
Thanks for any help I get.

A car is a car. Inspect them the same way you would inspect any other car. Also note that parts and service are a lot more expensive on these vehicles then typical cars.

My friend had an older Mercedes, probably early 80's model, and it ran and drove smoother then any newer car I have driven in.

The es300 is just a dressed up Camray xle with different grill work. I had 2 SC400 great autos one was stolen at 53,000 the other I sold with 73,000, however the dealers are real proud of the label and think if you can afford to buy it you can afford to pay whatever we want to charge. To fix a power steering problem dealer wanted $1600, a friend mechanic did it for $80 plus parts of $28.50. Dealer wanted $2000 for A/C compressor, same friend did it for $800. Lexus are great cars but not cheap if something goes wrong. Have a good one. Geo
