Intermittent no start
I've been having a problem with intermittent cold starts in my 1998 Honda Accord Coupe. The fuel pump was replaced because the engine would die on a start if I made a cold start and went a short distance and come right back to the car within 2 minutes. Ever since I had a 60,000 mile preventative maintenance and the fuel pump replaced in March 2006, I have been having problems with the first engine start of the day. I have to let it sit for 10-20 minutes before it will start, and then it runs fine. I never had a problem with it in the winter months. Also, I never had this problem before getting the maintenance and tune up done. It is intermittent but this summer it's getting worse. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Main relay, ignition coil, ignition switch, etc.? Can it be diagnosed during normal operation or only when this condition occurs? Please help.

I'm a bit confused. Does this statement mean that after you start it and run it for a short time, turn it off and then try to restart fairly shortly after shutdown?
Just before that statement you state you have problems with the first start of the day and then you have to wait for 10-20 minutes. I'm a bit confused.

I apologize for the confusion. The current problem I have is the intermittent no start on a first start of the day. After several attempts of trying to start it, I finally give up and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then when I try to start it, it starts fine with no problems at all until the next time it happens (several weeks or several months later).
I had the timing belt and water pump replaced during the 60,000 mile service. I had to get the water pump replaced again a few months later because it was defective.
