Disc Bake Pad and Rotor Questions

1990 Honda Accord LX, 4 Doors, AT, Sedan, 2.2L, 177K. I am going to change front brake pads and rotors. I found parts price are so much different amoung different brands and materials. My goal are to spend as cheap as possible in parts and don't want to keep changing pads or rotors so often (rotor change at least > 5 years or 3 pads replacement with re-surface). I will do it myself and SAFTY IS NUMBER ONE in terms of choosing parts. I found from Kragen/Internet that brake pad from $13.99 through $50 (Semi-Matallic or Ceramic) a set and disc brake rotor from $24.95 through $70 (various in brand) each. Does anyone knows about these materials and/or brand? Any opinion or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Well, like I always tell people, you get what you pay for. If you choose to get the cheapest parts out their, don't expect them to last long and have great performance.

For pads, go with some ceramics. Autozone type stores typically have lifetime warranties on these, so when they do become bad, you can get them replaced for free.

I like the Axxis or Brembo brands, but they are $$.

The ceramics get a thumbs up from me................and another thought.....Brakes and tires are the two things standing between yourself and a long hospital stay............So ask yourself........Is the $50 difference between so so stuff and quality worth risking your butt????
