possible short ???
I have a 1984 Ford Bronco II. 2.8 Liter 4 wheel drive. At first the starter went out I had it rebuilt. It worked for a few days then it started making a shorting out sound coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. I replaced the solenoid starter still nothing. And today I was trying to boost the battery with battery cables and they were melting. Is this the starter again or where do i go from here.

It sounds like you have a major short. First guess would be that a battery cable has come in contact with hot exhaust pipe or is somehow touching bare metal.
