drschwartz (Replacing Rear Shocks)

What is the prceedure for replacing the rear shocks on a 1993 lincoln town car executive ? I have the special tool for holding the upper end of the shock, however I can't find a way to get it in there.

Are your shocks within a spring?

If not, you just raise vehicle, remove center bolt, then remove lower bolt.

If it's within a spring:

Unbolt the 3 outer nuts on top, and LOOSEN the center shock nut

Remove lower bolt

Spring and shock come out as an assembly

Then you put on your spring clamp tool

Remove center nut completely

Remove spring clamps

Shock will slide out

Install in reverse order.
