Oil for 99 Intrepid
1999 Chrysler Intrepid
2.7 liter v6
What is the recommended oil
Also
Can police rear disks bolt right up or would I have to change the calipers and master cylinder and other stuff?

It may tell you the recommended oil on the oil filler cap. Since it's out of warranty, you can use whatever you want. For cool climates and / or less than 50,000 miles, I would choose 5-30 oil. Warm climate and / or over 50 K miles use 10-40.
Don't have any idea on the discs. If they are larger diameter, they would need calipers to match. Ask a Chrysler parts person, when they are not busy with customers. They can probably quickly pull up the info. You don't have to buy, just be sure to say thanks. Helps the next guy with a problem.

The oil cap says see manual
Just got the car and did not come with a manual.
I will try to corner the parts guy when not busy and bring the person a coffee.

Just put in some 5W-30. Manufacturers aren't specific on brand.
What do you mean by police rear brakes?
If you changed the rears to a larger diameter, you probably wouldn't even feel any gains because the rears only supply like 20-30% of the braking power.

Police brakes
Rear rotors need replaced on car I am certifying.
Mechanic told me to get use to it because they go all the time.
He figures too small a diameter.
I looked at the specs and they are less than 0.5 inches
Fronts are more than 1.0 inch
I do not have a problem with more than enough brakes.
I dont like it when I have bare minimum brake parts.
Which is what it seems to me that the engineers have done on this one.
I will have to research more to find all what I would need.
With the oil question. I just got the car and it has no manual in the glove box.
On the cap it says to see the manual.
Thanks

2.7 Mitsubishi engines are notorious for sludging up...........If it were MY car ........and the engine was still resonably sound, I'd switch it over to synthetic oil............handles heat and cold better than the stuff the dinosaurs gave their all for............
Try this web site.. www.dontbuyone.org
and see how many 2.7 owners are not very pleased with Chrysler...........

I have seen that site.
The price on the car is right
Free
160,000Km
Nice looking car.
Very well kept
So can't go wrong if I can get some miles out of it.
I am going to full synthetic
5 W 40 I think
I am certifying it right now.
