Remove Front Disc Brake Rotor of 1990 Honda Accord

1990 Honda Accord LX, 4 doors, AT, 177,000 miles. I want to change front disc brake rotor and following steps in Autozone.com (see link http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/0d/1c/42/0900823d800d1c42/repairInfoPages.htm). After removing 4 bolts retaining the hub unit to the steering knuckle, I can't remove hub unit (4th picture or 1st picture under 1990-95 Accord section). I still have hub unit and steering knuckle hangging. Do I have to take it off? Is there a trick or special tool I need to seperate hub unit and steering knuckle? Any place will take this job and how much will it cost? Any comments and suggestions are appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

I have done a few of these, though its been a while. I think you have to remove the knuckle completely. The other alternative involved using a hub puller but when I did that I blew the wheel bearing apart.

Thanks for the replied! What is hub puller look like? Does it look like the same as balljoint puller except larger? It looks like if I take knuckle completely off, the only tool can be used is hub puller, right? Thanks!

I do all my own brakes my self, but I sent my son to the repair shop with his Honda for the same reason. I tried several ways to get them off but they were just stuck. I think there is a special puller.

Not sure if a repair shop would do since you didn't buy the parts from them, but figure about $40-70/hr and about......2-3hrs labor time.

I went to autozone and try to rent hub puller tool, but they don't have. The only one they have is 2 or 3 jaws all purpose puller. It will require an about 2" - 2 1/2" circle plate to put in the center for this puller. However, I don't know where I can get this circle plate. I checked Kragen and Autozone. None of them know any of this special tool. I know it got to be some special tool for this and just don't know what it is and where I can rent/buy it. Does anyone know how repair shop seperate hub unit and steering knuckle?

I think he's probably done with the brakes by now; that thread is over a year old.
