Exhaust heat sheilds ???

Are they really needed? Mine has rusted through between the exhaust and the gas tank. My car is an 03 sentra 2.5L. It now is making an awful rattling noise. Is it safe to just remove it?

I would not advice it. It is there for a reason. Exhaust components get extremely hot. Having a extremely hot exhaust pipe under the gas tank is a extreme risk. Just buy a new one, they are cheap.

Good enough. Do I have to order from the dealer? Is it hard to install? Can I get one that doesn't rot through so fast? The car is only an 03. I really can not stand the sound of the rattling, makes the car sound like an old junker.

It is odd that it is that bad already. You must be up in the north where they still use road salt.

Just bring it by an exhaust shop. They can have one put on in less then 10 mins.

They also make heat shield blanket type material. You could get some of this and apply it to the bototm side of the gas tank.
