Altima 2000 thermostat replacement?
Hello all I just wanted to ask if anyone could help me change my thermostat that is acting up. I am pretty good with repair work but I just wanted some help with the set up. Thanks everyone..

Typically, the thermostat is located at the end of the radiator hose going to the motor. It is held n by just 2-3 bolts. Remove bolts (some coolant will leak, dont worry) lift hose off motor, remove thermostat and replace.
Spring portion faces into the motor.
How do you know it's the thermostat? What is going on with the car?

Altima 2000 thermostat replacement!
Thanks for the quick reply!! I am trying the thermostat because the antifreeze is boiling over into the plastic reservoir and I have noticed that the fans are not spinning regularly. Also i have already replaced the leaking radiator cap.. Please let me know what you think..

Is your temp gauge working? Where is IT pointing at? Never heard of a radiator that can be hot without the engine being comparably hot. But HAVE heard of a cool radiator while the engine is smoking hot. Even if heat was getting to the radiator from the a/c condensor - if that was part of the equation - the car would still be getting hot if the fan(s) were not coming on and staying on as they should.

Altima 2000 thermostat replacement!
Cant go by the gauge because the altimas 2000`s have the problem clusters where the gauges go crazy. I replaced the thermostat this morning(messy but pretty simple) and the fans turned on one minute after I started it so thats a good sign hopefully. Thanks for replying buddy I hope i can help you someday..

You can also get a accurate reading of the engine/coolant by having someone hook a scan tool up to your diagnostic port.
Glad you got the thermostat replaced!
