2000 ford windstar se abs light stays on

I have a 2000 Ford Windstar. The abs light stays on all time. A mechanic told me he thought it was in the computer. Does anybody have any suggestions or a way to turn the abs light off?
Thanks

I would have it scanned for codes and see what comes up. It will take a scan tool to turn off the light and if there is a fault the light will return. AutoZone and some other parts places will scan it for free (in hopes you'll buy your parts from them). Be sure to check the fluid level in the brake reservoir first. And you're probably going to need a better mechanic.

I agree with Tow. Get a different mechanic. The "computer" would be the last thing I would troubleshoot. It could be many things in between, i.e. low fluid like Tow said, or a faulty ABS wheel sensor.

Ya, the light is on because the computer has sensed a problem, not that the computer is the problem

When the problem is fixed, the light will go off

I would almost guarentee that you have a faulty speed sensor and it will take a scanner with abs hardware to diag this problem. Your everyday auto parts store pcm scan tool won"t connect with the abs module.
