Question Olds Achieva front bushing

I have a 1998 Achieva that is missing the bushing on the lower controling arm of the right front axle. This is the bushing on the rear of the arm, thus causing the arm and sub frame to be metal on metal, making a knocking noise when braking and on ruff roads. My question is, can this bushing be replaced and how diffecault is the job?

Control arm bushing.

Control arm bushings can usually be replaced. It is unusual for that bushing to fail as you have mentioned. There may be a problem with the control arm's ability to hold a bushing in place and you may need to replace the complete control arm. Most bushings are pressed into place and you will need a tool to fit the new bushing and a press to push it into place. Not a difficult job if you have the tools.
