Recently I have been having difficulty filling my tank, and it has nothing to do with the price per gallon! When starting to pump gas into my 2004 Chevy Blazer, the automatic shut off of the pump activates, like my gas tank was full. But I know it is not, so I try pumping more. This happens over and over, only allowing me to pump about 10 cents of gasoline at a time. At first I thought it was the pump, so I tried another station. New station, same problem. So my thoughts are that something is in my tank or the neck leading into the tank, causing the pumped gas to back up and trigger the shut off on the nozzle. Has this happened to anyone out there? I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Any information will be helpful when I take this into a mechanic (I am a do-it-yourselfer, but do not want to fool around with the gas tank). I got the P0455 code in Dec. Then I replaced the gas cap. Everything was fine till last week. The service engine soon light came on right at startup. I was in no hurry so I read the codes. Got P0455 and P0455 pd (pending). Shut car off cleared codes removed gas cap and reinstalled it being sure to go at least 3 clicks past stop (actually went 6 ). Started car everything fine. Now 3 days later the same code is back. I got my new cap at Auto Zone which some say was a mistake but it worked for this long. Do you think the gas cap is bad again or is something else the problem? The P0455 code means Emission Control System Leak (large) according to the book that came with my reader.
