I've got a 2000 Nissan Frontier p/u, 4 cyl, 2 wd, manual. I recently added some refrigerant to the AC system and it showed that it was full and in the green. I also recently had my AC belt adjusted that was slipping some when the compressor came on. Now what I'm noticing is that when I first start up my AC on max at full speed, the compressor turns on, then off, on, then off, etc. about every 5 seconds. This goes on for a while until the interior begins to get cool, or if I turn down the fan speed or turn the temperature knob to warmer. What could be causing this?

Could be lots of things. Low refrigerant, bad pressure switch, short in the clutch wire. Unless you put gauges on it to check pressures we don't have a chance in knowing what it's doing.
