ive never attempted this type of repair.i did what i thought was a failrly good job.i lined up marks on the gears with the top gears mark pointing down and the bottom gears mark up.then i put it all back right,so i thought,and it cranked over rapidly with a few misfires to show for my work.i am as amatuer of a mechanic as there is( any info would be so great), thank you ! it is a 3.1 L motor sunbird le 1991

1994 Toyota Camry

Just bought a Camry with high miles but in great shape other than some minor problems. First is the trunk support. The trunk will not stay open by itself and it looks like it's supported by some type or torsion rod where a black clip (for lack of a better work) in the middle of the rod is broken or detached from the forward wall of the trunk (just above the opening into the back seat). Has anyone ever had this problem and if so how can it be corrected? I've looked for trunk support parts online but have only found the small struts you usually find on hatchbacks but those are not used on my trunk. Second problem is a power steering leak. Haven't examined closely yet but was wondering if trying some Lucas Oil power steering stop leak would be adviseable? What are the potential problem areas I should check? Third is the light on the dash that illuminates the AC fan switch and temp control does not work so I assume a bulb is blown. What type of bulb does it use and is it easy to replace?Read More

95 Grand Marquis serp belt busted

After about 10 minutes of flapping, the serp belt bust in one place, and the belt looked new, no wear and tear. The repair guy said when he put the new one on, he felt grating in the air conditioner pully. To put on a new fake pulley, the air doesn't work anyway, he'll charge me $175. The car drives nicely now, how do I know the air pulley froze and bust my serp belt? Could it have been something else?Read More
