Buy some engine sludge cleaner.

You pour this into the existing oil, run the engine, then drain and change the oil.

Heard an interesting story, and this is supposed to be true, that some dealerships are fixing sludged up engines (the ones they are having to do under warranty) by dropping the oil pan, removing the valve cover(s), masking/covering everything in sight, and then attacking it with a pressure washer or steam cleaner. Interesting; not sure if that's the way I would go or not. I would certainly try Mark's recommendation first; flushing the cooling system will have no effect on a sludged up engine (unless you are talking about the cooling system being gunked up). Ultimately you should probably drop the oil pan after using the cleaner.

Aha. Disregard the oil-related info. Flush and refill as planned. Also new cap.

And upon refill you may want to consider mixing distilled water with the anti-freeze, 50/50 to reduce possibility of mineral deposits clogging radiator, choking down engine passages and heater core.

This car has a anti frez leak behind the tentioner for the belt. it is a big cover on the side of the engine the were the water pump bolts to. it a little hard to explain.

This is what we are doing right now. I flushes the whole engine and put block sealer in it. we by passed the heater core (no worries there). we started at 2:00 and it wont be done till 6:00.

3:07 so far the leak has stopped.

Quick question though, the ar 1800 rpms is this would be cause by a vacum leak right?

I don't have a book on this car yet.

Is there any way to check the codes on this monty Carlo using a paper clip or you only can use one of those Snap on scanners?
