Lumina motor replacement

I have a 1997 Lumina that recently overheated causing damage to the 3.1L motor (coolant in the oil). My buddy has a 3.8L Corsica, I think he said it was a '93. Can anyone tell me if this motor will bolt into my Lumina? He told me he thought it would. Thanks.

You're fixin to create a Frankensteinish nightmare there bro..........3.1 is a Chevy engine.........The 3.8 is a Buick........The wiring harness will be completely different, as will the ECM and PROM..........CAN it be done??? Probably............but there are added expenses that will make getting the right engine seem cheap

That's about what I figured. I didn't think he was right on them being compatible, but in the interest of getting my car back on the road I had to look into it. I think maybe he was thinking of the 3.4L, which I believe is interchangeable. Oh, well....
