2002 Focus

Hi,
My son's Focus has power door locks and the passenger door will not unlock.
Even with the key from the outside it won't unlock. The other 3 doors work normally.
I'm guessing the motor that runs the lock is shot, but how do I get the door open so I can take the panel off to work on anything?
With the window down I can see the cable going to the latch and the wires going to the lock but no "secret button" to over ride the lock.
Thanks for any help!

Does the lock feel like it's binding up on anything when you turn the key, or does it feel real loose?

You may have to call a lock smith to come shim the door open.

If you can't open the door from the inside or out, you've probably got a seized actuator...........Now for the bad part............A locksmith won't do you any good. You're gonna have to get the inner panel off the door WITHOUT the door being open.............trust me............no fun..........
Once you've accomplished that you reach inside and remove the rod to the actuator and the door will function manually.........My only hope is that the actuator is not an integral part of the latch assembly........If'n THAT'S the csae, you'll be hackin up the latch assy till it lets go

The lock and door handle both feel normal. I can lock and unlock the other 3 doors from the broken door with the key from the outside and the key from outside the door.
Looking down from the top I can't see any acuator rod....just a cable running from handle into the latch assembly and the wires going to the lock. And everything is covered by a plastic cover....
I can get the door panel off,but it's gonna be ruined. The edges are held on by screws that are hidden with the door shut.
Not one of Ford's better ideas.........

I've never seen a door panel come off easy at all if it is stuck shut, so it's not just Ford.

That's true.....But in a perfect world if a power door lock breaks/gets jammed in the locked position you should be able to unlock/open the door from the inside by useing the door handle. Wouldn't take but a mechanical connector between the handle and lock.
Going to look at it again tomorrow and see what happens.
