Subaru 4-Cyl Timing Belt
2001 Subaru Outback wagon, 4 Cyl engine
Am going to replace the timing belt on this car. I have done timing belt with water pumps on VW, Chrysler/Mitsubishi and Fords. I know that this flat 4 cyl engine is slighly different and I'm wondering if there is anything I should watch out for when doing this job. Any tips or advice before I start would be appreciated. Also I plan on buying OE parts from my local Subaru dealer, not aftermarket.

If you are buying from Subaru, there's nothing to worry about, marks on the T belt ligned up with marks on pulleys then your good to go, if you are not so sure after T belt installed, just turn the engine by hand as you would do on other make/model (with aftermarket belt) to make sure there's no contact between pistons and valves.
