My brake lights(actual lights, not dashboard) stays on even with the car powered off. I checked the brake light switch(installed inverted) connected to the brake pedal which means when i released brake pedal, it pressed the switch which turns the lights off. When i pressed the switch with my finger, the lights goes off. The problem is, the contact point on the pedal that hit the switch has a designed hole which means the switch is never hit. Any one has any insight on this design and how i can turn the lights off?

How was the switch put in backwards? Were the brake lights previously working ok?
Sounds like a wiring problem or the switch has failed. The switch probably failed in the closed position.

The rubber grommet that's SUPPOSED to be there obviously went AWOL........Find a body moulding push pin that fits the hole and adjust the switch ACCORDingly..........
