1996 Escort LX will not start

1996 Escort (1.9 eng), was working fine, never had any indication of a problem. All of the sudden it will not start. I removed the FUEL INJECTION Relay, jumped the 12v to the other side and it starts OK. I replaced the relay with a new one, but it did not solve the problem. I replaced the FUEL PUMP relay as well, and checked the rollover switch and all the fuses.
As long as the Fuel Injection relay is by-passed the car starts, but it will not shut off.
Please Help

No start...how?

Will it turn over?
Does it crank but no-start?

Or just nothing?

The car will start if I by-pass the Fuel Injection relay. I remove the relay, jump the 12v to the other side of the relay and BINGO, the car starts.Only thing, that it will not shut off with the key.
That's the reason I replaced the relay with a new one, but that did not cure my problem.I also replaced the Fuel Pump relay , still no dice. I checked that red, safety switch in the trunk, and all the fuses, they are OK.
Perhaps there is another switch or relay hidden somewhere ?

Thanks for your help

Well, what I mean is
When the car is in no-start mode....what does it do when "not starting"
Does it crank (make noise and spin, but not "catch"), or does it do "nothing" (no sound, no spin, no click, nothing)

It can be an important distinction

I see you check the inertia switch though, that's a good start
Next I'd check the codes, get the computer to do a self check
You might not get any, but that would tell us something
Also not getting the OK code from the computer would tell us something
IIRC, on (at least some) EEC-IV controlled vehicles the computer is connected to the relay
